Lost #ForestPark -
MP: This beat started before 2012. In its first version the electronic synth you hear during the bridge was originally the main sound with different drums behind it. At that time I contemplated trashing the idea altogether due to lack of interest from vocalist but I still really wanted to use that cool synth for something. So I figure this time to put in some 808’s to rattle dem trunks. The Female voice looped in the second verse came from a unique jam session with two lovely young jazz singers that Pugs and I met at a show we did at the University of Chicago. Now we had a strong song but in comparison to all the other gems on the album we needed to go back in and make it better. Pugs wrote a new verse and a bridge, brought in a sound bites to help visualize the story. DJ Intel added some scratches and Pugs got a fresh acapella from a young spitter named Nosecurity. That was all I needed to get this one up to speed.

PA: With all the gun violence going on in the city from Chicago to the unarmed people being killed by cops across are country. To the lost of friends to health complications. The glamorization of gang culture I wanted to write a song to capture the frustration and the realization.
